Britney Toomey - Culinary Educator & Food Photographer
Hello there! I am a chef turned food photographer, food writer, and recipe developer. I combine my background in English and culinary arts to write engaging food stories that celebrate high-quality ingredients, helpful cooking tips, and the art of flavor—all in an accessible way for home cooks.
My transition into photography was a natural evolution of my love for showcasing local ingredients and culinary technique. As a chef, I mastered the art of plating, balancing color and flavor to create dishes that are as visually striking as they are delicious. Always hunting down the best ingredients, I became keen on developing relationships with my local food producers and farmers. Fresh ingredients are imperative to a great meal! Whether I’m writing or photographing, I aim to inspire confidence and curiosity in the kitchen.
With a degree in culinary arts from Johnson & Wales University, an English degree, and over 20 years of experience in fine dining, culinary instruction, and self-study of traditional foods, it is my pleasure to present food in its best light.
I collaborate with food brands, publications, and small producers who value high-quality ingredients and compelling storytelling. It is my passion to share the journey of food from its source to the table.
When I’m not in the kitchen, you can find me exploring local markets, traveling, or following my daughter’s curiosities.
